Title to long - truncated: View of Pietermaritzburg in the 1880's, looking from the tower of the Presbyterian church, east down Church Street. The Old Raadzaal building can be seen in the centre of the foreground. It was being used as a butchery and was demolished shortly afterwards to make way for the Town Hall. The large white building on the right is the market hall. The market square, and the building now the Voortrekker Museum can also be seen.
