HIGHER EDUCATION TODAY - CONNECTIONS WITH ANCESTORS Guests: Heather MacAlister, Genealogical Researcher, Ancestors South Africa; Bonita Bennett, Director, District Six Museum; and Christie van Zyl, Sangoma Host: Steven Roy Goodman Original Air Date: 30 September 2019 In this episode of Higher Education Today, Steven has a conversation about Ancestors and how we can connect with them. To do this, he hosts a genealogist who studies the history and lineage of a person through what other people in the past have written down, as well as the District Six Museum director who takes care of the history of a town that was demolished during the apartheid-era and is one of the preservers of District Six. To look into the spirituality of Ancestors, there is also a Sangoma, who is known as a traditional healer in the black community with the task of being a holistic healer who takes care of the body and the spirit and is able to connect to the spirit world.
