Title to long - truncated: Portretstudie van Nicolaas Johannes Van der Merwe, wie se betoog in 1916 voor die Vrystaatse sinode van die NG Kerk gelei het tot die goedkeuring van die voorstel dat die Bybel in Afrikaans vertaal moet word. In die daaropvolgende jare het die ander sinodes en kerke die Vrystaatse voorbeel gevolg.
