Mr Gerrit Wagener attended the UNESCO International Advisory Committee (IAC) for The Memory Of The World Programme which was held in Gwangju City, Republic Of Korea from 18 To 21 June 2013.

Mr Wagener had observer status at the Memory of the World Programme IAC meeting where the first order of business was to discuss the nominations that the programme had received for inclusion in the International Memory of the World Register. South Africa had 2 nominations, one from the Freedom Park Trust and one from the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa (NARSSA). Mr Wagener had prepared the NARSSA nomination and was on hand to assist with any questions on this nomination. As a result of these deliberations the NARSSA nomination, which was on the Archives of CODESA and the Multiparty Negotiating Process, was successful and has been inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register.
