Francois Stephanus Malan (1871-1941), editor, politician and cabinet minister. After studying at Victoria College, Stellenbosch, he completed his studies in England obtaining a LL.B in South Africa. He became editor of Ons Land, 1895-1908. Member of parliament and played major role in the Afrikaner Bond. Member of National Convention and strove for unification of South African Minister of education, mines and industries, agriculture and forestry, acting minister of native affairs and acting prime minister in the Union Cabinet for period, 1910-1924. Later he became senator and in 1941 president of the senate. Served on Historical Monuments Commission. As journalist and writer he published various articles and books. Malan was heir to the documents of Mrs. Marie Koopmans-de Wet. The collection consists of the documents of Malan, Mrs. Koopmans-de Wet and CP Schultz.
