INVITATION TO ATTEND THE NAAC FOCUS GROUP ON THE REVIEW OF THE ARCHIVES ACT: WED 25 OCTOBER 2023 09h00-13h00
 
The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture is currently reviewing the Archives Act, together with the NCLIS Act and the Legal Deposit Act, to create Draft Bills to assist in changing these Acts to increase their relevant in today’s society and to meet new conditions.
 
We have split this project into three separate work streams, and this stream is concerned with the Review of the Archives Act.
 
We have already conducted a review of past work in this field, to the extent possible within the tie frame, and specifically the legislative review conducted by Cheadle in 2008 and gather information from the National Archives Advisory Council.
 
We are now extending the research into the stakeholder community and plan to engage with stakeholders in two levels:
An initial focus group, in which we present our existing findings, and request additional support in framing the problems, and to discover your own thoughts on solutions to these problems.
Follow up workshops, more targeted, together with interviews, to extend this into specific topics. We expect there to be a maximum of five of these.
