Terminology Description
Film Base

The plastic support which carries the lightensitive emulsion of film

Gate

The opening on a camera or a projector just behind the lens, through which a single frame is exposed (in the camera) or projected (in the projector)

Humidity

The actual amount of water vapour present in the air; see also absolute humidity; hygrometer; relative humidity. A more relevant working term is relative humidity

IMAX™

An extremely large wide-screen film process utilizing a special film camera and projector that run the film horizontally
