(MPEG Audio Layer 3) A popular compressed audio format used to transfer audio over the internet. An MP3 file is smaller than a wave file - a one minute piece of audio will take up 10 Mb as a wave file, but less than 1 Mb as an MP3 (depending on the bit rate), but will still sound virtually as good as the original. |
