Terminology Description
Raw audio

Refers to audio voice recorded with no editing. All recorded noise is still present in the audio

including, unwanted sounds, breaths and mouth clicks

The process of taking an audio or video signal (in most cases, the human voice) and translating it into electronic pulses.
WAV (Waveform Audio Format)

A wave file is uncompressed data, as close a copy to the original analog data as possible, and is

much larger than the same file would be in a compressed format such as MP3 or RealAudio.

Waveform

A visual representation of the audio signal as displayed in recording and editing software.
